Granitos

Granitos

The Granitos Stitch is a bold and plump stitch created by layers of Straight Stitches laid on top of each other. ‘Granitos‘ means ‘little grains’ in Spanish, from where this name must have been derived. The shape of this stitch resembles a grain of rice. Granitos Stitch is used in the Chikkankari Work, an embroidery from India, to decorate around the Paisley patterns. This stitch is super easy to work and can be used in isolation or in a scattered form to create a textured filling. I find this particularly lovely to make quick and small flower petals and leaves.
