About the Woven Cross Stitch
The Woven Cross Stitch is an attractive stitch made from multiple layers of the Cross Stitch. This is a beautiful stitch to create prominent and textured fillings. In this tutorial, I use two crosses. You can, however, use more layers of crosses woven into each other. Ensure that you use the alternate side of the primary cross to weave the layered crosses each time.
How to do the Woven Cross
Fig 1: Come out from A on the bottom stitch line. Go in through B and out from C. | Fig 2: Now, take the thread closer to the eye of the needle under the needle, as shown. |
Fig 3: Wrap it around as shown. Pull the needle downwards while holding down the wrap with your other hand. | Fig 4: After pulling the needle completely, you will find a knot created at point C. Repeat the step by taking the needle in from the top stitch line and out from the bottom stitch line and wrapping it around the thread to create a knot. |
Fig 5: The knots create a beautiful braided effect when these stitches are done closely. | Fig 6: This stitch can fill an area with the knots falling on the outline when used creatively. |
