Speckling Stitch is also known as
Dot Stitch/ Double Seed Stitch/ Double Rice/ Matting/ Double Back Stitch [EN]
About the Speckling Stitch
The Speckling Stitch is similar to Seeding or the Rice Stitch, except that instead of using a single straight stitch each time, two parallel straight stitches are placed close to each other. Sometimes, these parallel stitches share the same stitch points to make a single but bolder stitch. Add one more stitch to it, and it just becomes the Granitos! There are so many variants of Seeding that, many times the names slightly overlap each other. If you know this stitch by another name or another stitch with the same name, don’t worry- they are all variants with slight changes.
How to do the Speckling Stitch
The Straight Stitches are worked between the same two stitch points or side by side close to each other. In this illustration, I have left a gap between the two parallel Straight Stitches to create a variant. The Video Tutorial will show the first variant.
Fig 1: Make a single Straight Stitch between two stitch points. Add a parallel stitch right next to it. You can share the stitch points if you’d like it that way. | Fig 2: That is it! |
Fig 3: Make many of them and lay them around to create beautiful textures. |
