Twisted Fly Stitch

Twisted Fly Stitch is also known as

Gedrehter Fliegenstich [DE]

About the Twisted Fly Stitch

This stitch is similar to the Fly Stitch but with a twist. 🙂 The visual effect gives out a sharper edge to the Y shape.

How to do the Twisted Fly Stitch

Knowing the Fly Stitch before proceeding with this tutorial will be good but not necessary.

Fig 1: We begin by bringing the thread out from A, B and C, as in Fly Stitch. The only difference is that the needle lies below the thread this time, as shown. Fig 2: Pull the needle out and bring the stitch A-B to a loop, like shown.
Fig 3: This is the part where we twist the loop. For this, take the needle in through the loop from the top, as shown. Fig 4: As you pull the needle, you will see that the loop gets twisted. Pull it out completely.
Fig 5: Now, end the Twisted fly Stitch by passing the needle through the fabric to finish the tail.
