Fly Stitch Family

About the Fly Stitch Family

There are three major families of stitches that are technically very similar. A very slight change in the way they are done divides them into three different groups. These are- The Fly stitch family, The Feather Stitch Family, and The Blanket Stitch Family. Once the basic stitches from these three families are familiarised, you will learn how they are similar and different. The Fly Stitch forms a ‘Y’ shape.  It can be used to make botanical patterns and designs like ferns or used as fillings for kinds of leaves. Of course, it is not restricted to such designs only though!

      Dear Molly,

Thank you for suggesting to include this stitch.
I shall do it after appropriate research. It might take a little while though. 🙂

    Dear Sarah
I cannot believe the two comments above mine!!!!!!!!!!!!! i think this site is a goldmine and there is everything you need to know about the individual stitches. No craft book i ever saw was so well explained and detailed as this. I am still saving all these stitches and will start to post as soon as i start doing them. Please keep up the good work you have helped alot of people take up embroidery again.
