About the Straight-Sided Feather Stitch
The Straight-Sided Feather Stitch essentially follows the same technique as the Feather Stitch but tries to make straight sides instead of diagonal ones. This means having to work only between two stitch lines! This stitch is great for working with other stitches to decorate borders or frames. I prefer doing this stitch from top to bottom, but you can hold your fabric as you feel comfortable.
How to do the Straight-Sided Feather Stitch
Fig 1: Begin by coming out from one stitch line, going in through the other, and coming out straight over the same stitch line, as shown. Loop the thread under the needle. | Fig 2: Next, move to the other stitch line and pass the needle into and out of it, as shown. Again, loop the thread under the needle. |
Fig 3: Continue working in the same manner alternately between the two stitch lines. | Fig 4: A finished row would look like this. |
