About the Slanted Cretan Stitch
The Slanted Cretan Stitch is a variation of the Cretan Stitch with modified positions for the legs. Instead of working between the usual four stitch lines, here, we will work between just three. There will be only one line in the middle, making the stitch more acute. This stitch is great to fill in leaves, either placed close or spaced out. The line in the centre creates a rib that looks apt for leaves.
How to do the Slanted Cretan Stitch
Fig 1: Start by making the first Cretan Stitch, as shown. The needle will come out from the centre of both the stitch lines. | Fig 2: Now, make the other stitch on the other side. The needle will come out exactly below the earlier stitch point. |
Fig 3: Keep repeating this process on either side. | Fig 4: A finished portion will look like this. |
