About the Partial Whipped Chain Stitch
The Partial Whipped Chain Stitch is a different approach to use the whipping technique over the Chain Stitch. Instead of whipping under each complete Chain Stich, you would take only one side of the Chain for the process. What results is a beautiful and delicate way to enhance your Chain Stitch. You can apply this method for both sides of the same Chain Stitch independently and see how it turns out visually.
How to do the Partial Whipped Chain Stitch
Fig 1: Lay a foundation of Chain Stitch. Use a contrasting thread and come out from one end of the Chain Stitch row. Take the thread through each loop of chain made to give a whipped appearance. |
Fig 2: A finished row of this stitch appears like this. |

Thanks for your clear instructions. I am a crafter not a focused embroiderer. As such, on a whim I wanted to add a design to a wood piece using wire for thread. Thanks to your teaching skills, it turned out great!
I am saving your attractive stitches, Sarah, but have little chance of doing any lately. I miss the embroidery.
