Threaded Back Stitch is also known as
Laced Back Stitch [EN], Puntada atada hacia atrás [ES], Point arrière lacé [FR], Umschlungener rückstich [DE], Ponto traseiro atado [PT].
How to do the Threaded Back Stitch
This variety of stitch gives a wavy effect to the pattern and follows the same stitching pattern as the Laced Running Stitch.
Back stitch: Lay the foundation by doing a Back Stitch.
Fig 1: Take another thread and needle and bring it out through A. Pass the needle under the stitch A-B, from above, as shown. Do not pluck the fabric underneath. | Fig 2: Now, pass the needle under the stitch B-C, from below, as shown. Again, do this without plucking the fabric underneath. |
Fig 3: Continue this process of taking the needle under each Back Stitch from above and below alternately.
Fig 4: The completed pattern would show up like this. |

Thanks! I was having the hardest time trying to understand the difference between a whipped back stitch and a threaded back stitch until I found your website. Your instructions are clear and beautiful.
Hey Anne, it is good to know that my tutorial helped you. I have made my best to make them as simple as possible, coz it is easy to confuse oneself with many kinds of sititches that look closely related to each other.
