Stitch Flowers: Granitos Stitch

Stitch flowers using the Granitos Stitch.

Hydrangeas are gorgeous! Its bloom colors depend on the pH level of the soil. So, if you are into gardening, you can actually manipulate the bloom colors by using additives into the soil. Yes, just add some vinegar or some lime juice and turn the ground acidic to have more blue flowers! The colors vary from pale blue to bright pink and many times, even a combination of all the color shades if the roots get to dip itself into soils of different pH. Each bunch of flowers is made of smaller four-petaled flowers. These petals can be easily made by using the Granitos Stich. Honestly, I was itching to try this stitch over a similar flower. Try this beautiful flower with me!

How to embroider flowers using the Granitos Stitch

Fig 1: Get your fabric, hoop, and threads ready. I have marked small petals to make sure I space them correctly. This is a 4″ hoop. Fig 2: Start working the Granitos Stitch for each petal. I prefer to work from the middle of each flower to the outer end of the petal.
Fig 3: I keep working this way for all the petals. Fig 4: This is a single flower from a single bunch.
Fig 5: I have made the three bunches using 3 different color combinations. I have used a single color in one, two colors in the other, and variegated thread in the third one. I love the variegated thread bunch. Fig 6: Now, you can add leaves using the Fishbone Stitch.
Fig 7: And that is the finished Hydrangea flowers!
