The peacock feather edges were worked with closed buttonhole and satin covered the interior part of the feathers . Filled in the body of the peacock with chain stitch . Just I used some multi -colours to charm the peacock .

Hi Judy,
Thanks.
If you are referring to the sample in this page, it is neither my design nor my embroidery! It belongs to one of our very talented learners- Mario Tenorio. 🙂
Since this was a page on embroidery contribution, we just put up a sample from her, as Maria shares many of her lovely works.
P.S. Was on a long vacation…could not reply earlier.

Hi Sarah,
I have never embroidered in my life but have been very inspired in my travels…especially recently when i had the chance to witness a lot of phulkari work. I want to try my hand at it but am having a hard time finding the silk ‘pat’ thread needed. I live in mumbai and have checked a few places to my disappointment. Do you know of a place where I can get supplies for Phulkari work? Also, are you planning to have embroidery workshop anytime soon?
love your tutorials.
Yasmin
Dear Yasmin,
Sorry, I am not really aware of the places in Mumbai where you might get things for Phulkari work.
I might hold some workshops after a few months. It would be in Pune. I will announce it once all the arrangements are in place.
Hi Sarah,

Hi Sarah,
I’ve used whipped stem stitch & buttonhole stich to create this peacock feather ……..
I actually did these two first, when we thought the baby was a girl.
This was my VERY FIRST try at embroidery, and, it’s not very good, but I am still working at it and getting better. The stitches are random. I am very open to suggestions on how to do this particular type thing better.
Hi Sarah!!
Here are some of my works. I used stem stitch, long and short stitch, open chain stitch, fly stitch, simple chain stitch.
Regards.
Hello Sarah, hope I’m not too late to contribute…. This piece I have titled “Wakey, Wakey” It has been stitched in space dyed rayon threads using only chain and straight stitches.
