Hi Sarah
Amazing project!
Am attaching a snapshot of an embroidered tapestry me and hubby have been making for our baby..
The clouds outline has been done in running stitch with rain in single chain stitch. The filling of the cloud has been done in multi-colored button holes.
The sun rays have been done in superficial herring-bone stitch and the disc has been done in button hole stitch.
The rainbow has been done in double chain stitch. The mountains are in running stitch while the snow is buttonhole stitch.
Wow… I am really amazed…
Ladies… Thats each and everyone of you …. From beginners to the advanced.. Everything is really and truly beautiful…

Dear Esti,
Your work is beautiful. What is the white on the bird and how did you get that texture. I do a lot of animals and I am at a loss as to how to ‘fill in’ their body parts so that it looks good.
Thanks so much,
Rienda
Dear Rienda,
hi Rienda,, the white one is felt fabric
I copied the bird pattern on the felt fabric and then cut it.
To attach the felt bird on the pattern, I was sewing the edges only.
i hope to inspire you Rienda 🙂
see u in next stitch 😀
Sara,
Have been your blog reader for couple of years . I love your clear , precise instructions with beautiful photos. I am happy you are coming out with a ebook. Couldn’t wait for it to be published , so I can order.
Small suggestion for you . Are you familiar with this site http://www.etsy.com?. If you choose this site to set up shop and sell your book, it will be easy, safe and reliable for international readers like me. Also , you would get worldwide coverage. I order my designer fabrics, all my hardware for my sewing, knitting, yarns for knitting and embroidery designs thru etsy.
Here is a my fav fabric designer who started her store in etsy few years back with her illustrations and embroidery patterns as a stay at home mom. Now she has become a very famous fabric designer. check her embroidery designs for sale in her shop http://shop.sarahjanestudios.com/collections/embroidery-patterns.
Another fabric designer is aneela Hoey https://www.etsy.com/shop/comfortstitching?section_id=6515494&ref=shopsection_leftnav_1

Hi Sarah,
Browsing and I found your informative site on hand embroidery…. perfect for a beginner like myself. I would very much like to do a “pulkari” embroidery on a kameez and wondering if you could kindly provide me some pulkari designs you may have, with the kind of stitches and usually how many strands of thread should be used? Oh, BTW, thank you for such an informational site for beginners like myself 🙂
Bless you!!

How are my stitches
How is my work
Hi there! I am a huge fan of your site. I came across a stitch on a quilt my grandmother made 45 years ago, that I have not seen on your site and wanted to share it. It looks to me like a herringbone stitch, but the “x” is twisted. Trying to figure out how she did that! Anyhow, here it is – grandmas’s crazy quilt.
Dear Shel,
This stitch belongs to the herringbone family and is called the breton stitch. I have not put up the tutorial up here yet, though it is ready. Thanks for sharing.
sarah
Here is a sample of satin stitch.
Thanks.
I am new here and a beginner in embroidery….and this is what i made for the first time i held needle in ma fingers…i know not so good but just one effort 😛
Hi,
I learned with you. Now y work is better. Thanks a lot!
Dear Andreia,
What a wonderful piece of work! Thanks for sharing. 🙂

I am embroidery lover and its my passion. Thanks for providing such a platform. Some of pure kutch work samples designed with no filler stitch around.
dear sara
plz teach me how to make ribbon embroidery.
thank u so much for this site.
Dear Sarah,
I am 62 years old and waiting on the birth of my first great grandchild. I am so very excited and find myself wanting to “make stuff”. I started trying to embroidery and it was okay, but I didn’t know any but the simpliest stitches. I found your site online and now I spend hours at a time practicing the different stitches. Your detailed instructions and pictures are a God-send and I truly appreciate what you are doing for others. Perhaps one day I will be good enough to be in one of your books also.
God bless and keep you.
Rienda
P.S. Can you tell me what stitches to use doing a baby’s face? Or any face/body outline. Thank you.
Dear Rienda,
First of all I apologize for my late response. I have two young children at home, and with almost no other help, it can get pretty busy.
Have you already welcomed your grand child into the world? Congratulations, either way. 🙂
For any face, you can use the back stitch or even the outline stitch. Well, you can use the chains stitch too. Please do share some of your works with us when possible. It will be lovely to see.
Best wishes.
Hi, i am sanchita. today for the first time i visited your site and i really liked it a lot. i love stitching and painting very much. this is my work of cross stich. hope everybody will like it.
Dear Sanchita,
Your work is very beautiful. To use this image in our book, we need a better resolution one. If possible, can you send us a picture of this piece of work in a higher resolution? 🙂
Hi sarah!
i have scanned my work in a good digital scanner. i think that this is now of better resolution and you can use this in your book.
sanchita
Hello Sarah,
Happy to share some of my work with you. I’ve used basic stitches like back stitch, whipped back stitch, chain stitch, lazy daisy stitch, french knots and herringbone stitch.
All patterns are available at http://www.needlenthread.com
Thanks,
Divya
Hi, I just found your site and I should say, it is amazing. The extent and ease you explain each stitch helps a lot to new beginners like me.
I send a traditional cross stitch work for your e-book. Considering some pieces I saw here, I feel a bit embarrassed but it is a very traditional work in my country, probably every house has one of these prayer rugs stitched with a similar design. As obvious, it is cross-stitch on Aida.
Hope this helps,
best wishes , Merve
