This book is a treasure! The moment you open it you can see how much work is put on it and that Sarah put her all to make a book that would help embroiderers of all levels! I would recommend to also watch her videos too to a full experience!

This ebook is everything any embroiderer needs. So many different stitches, carefully explained with pictures and links to actual video teaching. It is linked to so many places in terms of where each stitch is and how it is used in a project and where to get more details if necessary. It would be good to have it in a hard copy accept that then you couldn’t jump to every link as is possible in an ebook. I highly recommend this book and commend Sarah and her team for an above excellent product.

It is an excellent reference book for beginners to advanced stitchers. Her presentation of each stitch is easy to follow and learn.
I have Sarah’s 1st Edition, which is also an excellent reference book, but I strongly urge you to get her 2nd Edition as it is in much easier to use, plus added stitches. The icon at the bottom of each page makes browsing so much easier. The index at the back lists the stitches alphabetically instead of in stitch families, which makes it easier to find the stitch you want.
I highly recommend the 2nd Edition. Enjoy learning new stitches.

The last time I embroidered anything was in 4H when I was 15; I’ve forgotten everything I knew. Sara’s book is just the answer to my newfound interest in resuming embroidery again. Great photos, well organized, and especially easy to navigate on a tablet. Thanks for this Sara. Well work the investment!

I am 73 years old, My grandmother teached me the first stitches when I was 8 years old. I own a lot of books with stitch collections, but this is the best one ever, thank you.
Jesse (verified owner) –
This book is extremely well organized and I found the steps very easy to follow, with both the pictures and text descriptions. It can be difficult to learn new and complicated stitches without watching a person or video giving you an example, but Sarah’s descriptions were clear enough that I was able to do many new stitches without having to look up any videos!

Once I saw the whole book, I was quite happy to see the detail, precision, and organization of this great embroidery book. I was helped right away to understand one particular stitch that I was having great trouble understanding the steps. I began stitching redwork style on my bandana but included new-to-me chain stitchs in both our signature images and a bluebird. I’m a disabled vet, 62, stroke survivor who needs a creative outlet. I have confidence now to do my new hobby-journey.
Woo Hoo!
I can endorse for anyone to have this treasure in their collection of materials.

Clear instructions, great photos and SO many interesting stitches. I love having this as a reference and to spur my own creativity. I also appreciate the labor of love, blood, sweat and tears that must go into producing this book and keeping up the website. Thank you!

WOW! So many different stitches, and really well-organized. I appreciate how some of the more complex stitches are explained and variations or combinations of simpler ones, and cross-linked in the text so I can review them. Definitely learned a lot of new stitches I’m excited to try out!

I am just a beginner to hand embroidery and so was looking for something that was clear and yet, would provide interesting stitches that I could grow with as I gained skill. I bought both the books and I find them excellent. The explanations are precise and easy to follow. The second one is encyclopedic but very interesting! These books clearly are a labor of love and created to be helpful to both beginners and experts. And I agree with reviewers who mention the customer service. It is just amazing. Thank you so much and I hope more and more people discover you and the calming benefits of hand embroidery!

This is the BEST embroidery book I have ever come across. Clear pictures, great instructions, complete and thorough, easy to navigate… it has everything! I can’t believe the price of this book either, Sarah can easily charge quadruple what the cost is. This book will be invaluable for years to come. I’m so excited that I came across this book.

This book doesn’t deserve 5 stars, it deserves 10 or more!
I have a lot of embroidery books (Stitches Bible, Stitches Dictionary etc) but I think that this book is the best.
Very well presented, in a logical manner and with the user in mind. The illustrations are very clear and lovely to look at.
I had been hesitating about buying yet another book about embroidery but I have no regrets. I’m totally delighted with this book! Thank you Sarah, I can see so much work and effort went into creating this book for us! x

I have recently taken up embroidery again after too many years to count. I have been attracted to free hand embroidery so I refer to Sarahs picture index constantly. The book is an inspiration to try new stitches and see how it affects the look of the pattern. I was so glad to find this enormous treasure of information on an equally enormous number of stitches.

I just purchased 3 of her ebooks, and teaching myself embroidery. This book is so easy to use, photos are very helpful and I can follow along. She even show photos of the back side of stitches! And it’s more than stitches, it’s about notions and color wheel, which is helpful. This book is worthy of owning to use anytime, whether you’re a beginner or need to refresh the basics.

I have bought several embroidery books online, sight unseen, and been bitterly disappointed, but NOW, I have Sarah’s Second Edition, and will never have to buy another embroidery book. This was obviously written just for me, as I could not find one thing I would alter, omit, or add. I have it on a small tablet, which fits in my bag for class, and I am looking forward to showing it off to the other students as the only book they’ll ever need. Thank you, Sarah!

[2nd Edition Review]
Happy to have the second edition! I was so sad I missed the email for the discount by 1 day, but it was still worth every cent! I like that the pictures are clear, in color, and Sara explains things well. I have bought quite a few books in the last year (I started embroidery during the quarantine like so many others), and this is my go-to for sure! As much as I love hard copy books, having it on my phone means that no matter where I’m stitching, the book and it’s plethora of information is only a few finger swipes away! I love that it’s organized by stitch type, and I whole heartedly appreciate that the PDF is high quality, containing links to the stitches when clicking on key words or on the images of the stitch itself. Love love LOVE! Thank you Sara!

[2nd edition] I bought the first edition when it first came out, and it was really wonderful, so rich and detailed, with an incredible amount of content. I wondered if it could really be worth it to get the second edition. ❤️❤️ I bought it a couple of days ago and am just AMAZED by how much new material is in there. What I really love about Sarah’s approach to embroidery is that it isn’t too fussy. The book has a nice conversational tone, the instructions and diagrams are clear and easy to understand, and the short informative sections about where the stitches come from and how they relate to other similar types of embroidery are interesting and informative. This is not your average embroidery book.

I have and loved the first addition, but bought the second anyway. I am glad I did. It really is better and MORE in every way. Please keep updating and improving it. I love the little stories on particular types of embroidery, especially international forms not well known in the USA. Please expand to include more of these, especially more examples of pattern darning, sashiko, Indian embroidery, and Bargello. I also love seeing examples from around the world.
